Europe Day program on Freedom Square


15:00 – Opening ceremony on Freedom Square. Start of the Passport Game, music of the countries that celebrate their 100th anniversary this year, live broadcasts from embassies, children’s area, exhibitions and street food vendors

18:00 – Speech of the President of the Republic of Estonia. Performance by local artists: Stig Rästa, Liis Lemsalu, Ivo Linna, Antti Kammiste, Lepatriinu and Frankie Animal

19:45 – Passport Game prize draw

The hosts from the Austrian Embassy in Tallinn will treat guests to Austrian sweets. Feel free to ask any questions or get a feel for the country through various books and brochures.


Don’t be afraid to ask any questions you have! The embassy will share information about Bulgaria’s history, culture and tourism opportunities.


¡Hola amigos! Spain and its cultural and natural heritage are worth visiting. Come and join us at Freedom Square.


How much do you know about the regions, culture, art and nature of Italy? Come and find out!


If you’ve ever had any burning questions about Greece, this will be your opportunity to ask them! Those with an interest in geography can put their knowledge about Greece’s sights, architecture and famous places to the test – find them on a map of Greece and win prizes like t-shirts, cotton bags, stationaries, mouse-pads etc.


Take advantage of the opportunity and find out everything you’ve ever wanted to ask about Cyprus!


Come, ask questions and participate in the game organised by the Embassy of Malta. Prizes for the winners!


Welkom! This year the Dutch Embassy will be right in the middle of the action – at Freedom Square. Feel royal wearing a crown designed especially for Europe Day and try the famous Dutch cheese. Come and visit!


The members of the Visegrád group, i.e. the embassies of Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic together with the Office of the Embassy of Hungary in Tallinn and the Hungarian Institute, will welcome visitors of Europe Day in their tent at Freedom Square where they will set up a children’s corner with fun cartoons and colouring books. Find out how you can continue your studies in Prague or Bratislava; taste sweets from Poland and Hungary.

Historian Ott Sandrak will take you for a guided walk “Polish traces in Tallinn” in the Old Town departing at 17.00 from the Embassy of Poland at Vana-Turg 2. Prior registration is necessary as places are limited – please contact


Bun venit în Romania! Welcome to Romania! This year is a special one also for Romania, as we celebrate the centenary of the creation of the Great Union on 1 December 1918. Visitors are invited to find out more about the rich cultural heritage of Romania and its gorgeous Carpathian mountains, valleys, lakeside, Danube delta and the Black Sea resorts, together with the impressive collection of ancient monuments and fortresses, and medieval castles. Leaflets and travel books will be available.
You are invited to take part in a Romania-EU-themed quiz with a chance to win interesting prizes.


2018 is a special year also for the United Kingdom – it marks the centenary of friendship with Estonia. Come and ask the Embassy staff about how and where we celebrate the occasion, take part in our quiz and win prizes. Furthermore, learn about the British troops stationed in Estonia as part of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence.


The European Parliament Information Office, the Representation of the European Commission and eu-LISA (the EU IT-agency) will welcome you at the tent of the European Union House.

Use the opportunity to find out what these three organisations are all about, take part in an EU quiz and win prizes.

The City of Tallinn is a special guest this year. Imagine what the European Union should be like in 2030 and send your wishes and suggestions directly to Brussels!


On Europe Day, the following embassies in Tallinn will open their doors for visitors:


The Danish Embassy invites you to a virtual cycling tour around Copenhagen. Practice writing Futhark or play other games the Embassy has prepared for you. This year Europe celebrates the Year of Cultural Heritage – are you familiar with the UNESCO world heritage sites in Denmark? More information here.


The Estonian representation welcomes its guests in the courtyard of the Stenbock House, the seat of the Estonian Government. The representatives of the Government Office, European Union Info Centre at the National Library, and the Ministry of Finance will be at your service. You can solve crosswords and win prizes, get a small Estonian flag and gifts. Stop by the EV100 photo wall and record your presence in a country that celebrates its 100th anniversary!


Come and learn more about France! Discover the opportunities to learn French in Estonia or to study and travel in France. Test your knowledge of French history and culture.


The Embassy of Germany will open its doors and welcome visitors together with the Goethe-Institut Tallinn. If you want to learn more about the German language, culture, science or are interested in studying in Germany – don’t hesitate to come along! Kids and grown-ups alike are invited to take part in games and other activities. Children will be entertained by Playmobil and a thrilling wheel of fortune. Another highlight: the famous German sausages and Brezel can be tasted and bought at the venue.


This year the Finnish Embassy will welcome its guests at its historical residence in Tallinn Old Town. There will be number of interesting activities including quizzes and photo opportunities with the Moomins. Try your luck in disc golf and rest your legs at the cafeteria of Tallinn Finnish School 7th class. TERVETULOA!


The Embassy of Ireland will welcome all visitors in Toompea at Rahukohtu 4-II, opposite the Stenbock House. The Embassy staff will give you more information about the emerald island. Children will receive a balloon as a gift. At 16.00 and at 17.00 Ambassador Frank Flood will give a short tour of the Embassy building and make a short presentation about Ireland for a group of 20. EMBASSY OF LATVIA – Tõnismägi 10

Join us to celebrate Latvia’s centenary! The Embassy staff will welcome you in the courtyard of the Embassy. Take along information about Latvia and feel free to ask questions. Taste traditional lollies and bacon buns. At 16.00 and 17.00 enjoy performance by local Latvian folk ensemble “Rēvele”.


During Europe Day, the participants will be welcome to get a glimpse of Lithuania. Answer a question and leave with a souvenir to remember the occasion. As Lithuania is a basketball nation we will organise a special competition with prizes! Try your luck, throw a ball and you have a chance to win a 2-night stay at the Palanga SPA Life Balance Hotel for 2 persons.


Join the party in the Embassy’s courtyard. This year we will focus on Sustainable Development Goals and offer Swedish Fika – coffee, lemonade, cinnamon rolls and cookies the Swedish way. In co-operation with Telia you can take a photo manifesting the Global Sustainable Development Goal that you consider most important. The importance of road safety will be exhibited and explained by Volvo Trucks. As always, there will be music and also a quiz with great prizes. More info here.
